Heat Advisory and Expected High Temps this Week and What to Expect

Good afternoon,

Summer has officially arrived with high temperatures expected this coming week. The Coaching staff is aware of your concerns and will work with Mike (Ohio Health Athletic Trainer) to monitor the conditions. These conditions are not something new to Coach Ward and his staff. Often they will change drills, increase water break frequency, and allow recovery time. There is a specific equation that Mike follows as to minutes of play related to the temps and heat index. Please encourage your athletes to begin hydrating NOW and make sure they are also intaking electrolytes. If they are thirsty it’s already too late! Proper prep and hydration will be essential to managing the expected high temperatures.

Any changes to the practice schedule will be communicated to the athletes via Sports You, encourage them to be monitoring that app for updates.
